Chic Wedding Venue in Palm Springs: Moorten Botanical Garden

One of the purposes of this blog when I started it a couple years ago was not only to show weddings that I’ve photographed, But to be a resource to my couples that are planning their dream wedding. So, today I wanted to introduce you to a venue you might have not heard of; Moorten Botanical Gardens. It is nestled in the heart of Palm Springs and is one of the prettiest botanical gardens I’ve ever been to. They have over 500 types of cacti and beautiful trails throughout the gardens that are perfect for couples photos. Full disclosure, I have not documented a wedding here yet but I am hoping to in the future… It’s that dang pretty. One of my favorite parts of the gardens is the greenhouse that is in the middle. You can see from the photos that it is absolutely stunning with a wide variety of different desert plants at a beautiful domed roof.

There are a lot of great wedding venues in Palm Springs. With a variety of eclectic mid-century modern buildings, open desert, botanical gardens … there is a wedding venue for everyone. I spent a few days in Palm Springs and fell in love with it and look forward to photographing some weddings here. It is peaceful, old school, romantic … and I can see why weddings in Palm Springs are getting so popular. If you’re craving a California wedding with famed soft lighting, beautiful sunsets, and unparalleled scenery you should definitely look at having your wedding in Palm Springs. Brilliant blue skies, emerald green palm trees, and colorful bougainvillea set the stage for a chic desert wedding against one of the surrounding mountains.

Palm Springs is known for a few things. The famous people that made the city a tourist destination for millions annually, of course. And of course, the beautiful desert landscapes. But it’s more than that – it’s about the overall vibe of the city … the colors, the eclectic decor, the influence of vibrancy, weirdness, and old-school glamour. I think that’s one of the appeals of a Palm Springs wedding. Another reason is that weddings are special. Weddings set the backdrop of the rest of your life as a married couple. For the boho and free spirited couples that love nature, the peace of the outdoors that shun fancy ballrooms; Palm Springs is perfect. Just don’t touch the cacti!

I already expect some messages saying – but Palm Springs has so many gorgeous wedding venues, why Moorten Botanical Gardens? And honestly, I think it all comes down to preference. Yes you can have your wedding at The O’Donnell House and I will show up in a heartbeat and be completely over the moon. But don’t overlook the beauty of a minimalist greenhouse wedding that lets nature shine through, too.
