History of Filoli Gardens
Filoli is a 654-acre country estate located in Woodside, California. The property includes Filoli House and 16 acres of formal gardens. Filoli’s history begins in 1917 when Mr. And Mrs. William Bourn II purchased Filoli as a country retreat.
The name “Filoli” is an acronym for the six purposes of the Bourns’ lives: F = family, I = intuition, L = love, O = our outdoors, L = luxury, I = intelligence.
As you can see from these Filoli Gardens Photos, the estate definitely upholds the Bourns’ original intentions. It’s no wonder that Filoli is such a popular spot for weddings and other events!
The Grounds
The Filoli Gardens are world-renowned for their beauty. The 16 acres of gardens include a wide variety of flowers, trees, and shrubs. There are also several water features, including ponds and fountains. The Filoli House is surrounded by manicured lawns, and there are numerous walking paths throughout the property.
Cost to visit
The Filoli Gardens are open to the public from Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 5-12. Filoli is located at 86 Cañada Road in Woodside, California.
The awesome part is that you can bring a photographer with you to document your session as long as you pay for their entrance ticket! To be super safe though, message the property first to get in writing that it’s okay to take photos there.
The Inspiration Behind this Quinceañera
A quinceañera is a Latina’s 15th birthday party, and it’s a huge coming-of-age celebration. Filoli Gardens was the perfect setting for this Filoli quinceañera shoot because it represented luxury, elegance, and beauty – all things that the birthday girl embodies.
