Sara and Cameron had the most beautiful Wedding at Cathedral Grove in Saratoga Springs. They have known each other since they were 18 and 19 respectively and it was not a love-at-first-sight kind of love story. They met through mutual friends and ex’s and stayed in touch over the years with a lot of ups and downs. At one point they were joined at the hip as great friends and a few years later they realized they were meant to be together for the rest of their lives.
Relationships are never as simple as boy-meets-girl (or girl-meets girl, or boy-meets-boy!) and then it’s smooth sailing from there. Every couple faces hardships in their journey that test their relationship. At the end of the day these hardships are make-or-break and while they may hurt in the present, are meant to better both yourself as an individual and as a couple. Sara and Cameron are living testaments of that and are true examples of how hardships can solidify your love for one another.
Sarasota Springs is a unique Bay Area wedding venue for a few reasons. One, it’s all outdoors. Yippee! A lot of venues have outdoor ceremony locations and indoor reception areas but not Sarasota Springs.
Look at that gorgeous outdoor ceremony and reception space! If you want an outdoor wedding surrounded by nature in Northern California, this is your spot. They have two different venues on site to choose from – Cathedral Grove and Longbridge. My couple chose Cathedral Grove which is at the bottom of the space and is completely surrounded by soaring redwoods. Sarasota Springs decorated the trees with elegant string lights throughout to complete the look.
The vibe of the day was definitely boho chic. Sara has a boutique clothing store and it definitely showed in her design choices that she is good at her job. Tied in with the surrounding natural beauty the moodier colors of the day complemented perfectly with the surrounding forest. Peep those copper candle holders and black candles!
The location of Sarasota Springs really makes you amazed you’re only 15 minutes from San Jose, which is a city with a million people in it! Sara and Cameron planned everything exquisitely and incorporated magentas, royal purples, and vibrant oranges into their special day.
Alright now let’s talk about what they were wearing because they both looked so incredible.
Cameron wore a dapper burgundy tux from Stitch and Tie (Owned by Friar Tux) with classic beech colored dress shoes. Complementing that was a floral burgundy tie with pops of peach and cornflower blue.
Sara wore one of the most stunning wedding dresses I’ve ever seen. The Capricorn by Willowby Watters is adorned with delicate tulled lace, beaded pearls up the spine and floral patterns for daaaays it was simply breathtaking and suited her perfectly.
Instead of a traditional veil, she opted for a handcrafted flower crown by the talented Alicia Voelker Design. Alicia uses in-season florals to create her masterpieces and is tastefully designed to match the couples’ unique vision. Florals are SUCH an important part of the day and can truly set the mood for the entire party and complete a curated outfit.
For the bouquet she used a mix of peach dahlias, deep purple ranunculus, pink carnations, and fresh greenery.
Sara and Cameron opted to do a first look and it was such an important part of the day to Sara. She knew exactly what she wanted. A short walk from the ceremony and reception areas is this beautiful bridge that you can see above. With a flowing creek underneath, and raw, organic nature surrounding it the perfect spot for a first look as well as couples photos.
Her idea was him facing away, her coming up behind him, tapping him, covering his eyes, and then him turning around. It unfolded so beautifully exactly like she wanted and was a very emotional moment of the day.
That first look magic
Afterwards, Sara did a beautiful first look with her step-father that ended in tears from both of them. What a special moment between such loving people.
They had a short and sweet wedding ceremony saying their vows in the redwood grove during the last minutes of daylight surrounded by their closest friends and family in attendance.
Wishing these lovebirds nothing but the best in their lives together. Congratulations Sara and Cameron. <3
